Mountmellick Solar Farm

This project included a 50 MW solar farm and 30 MW Ba琀琀ery Energy
Storage System on an area of approximately 68.8 hectares. It also
included a new onsite 110 kV substa琀椀on. TOBIN secured a 10-year
planning permission for this project with an opera琀椀onal period of 35
years. TOBIN were appointed as Lead Consultant for this project
which included a robust ecology assessment to inform the Planning
Applica琀椀on. Ecology surveys, which included habitat and fauna
surveys, were undertaken to inform the Planning and Environmental
Considera琀椀on Report and Natura Impact Statement.

Planning permission was granted
for the 4.2MVA Mountmellick Solar
Farm, comprising photovoltaic
panels on ground-mounted frames
and all associated ancillary works, in
Co. Laois in 2016. TOBIN managed
the planning and environmental
assessments for the applica琀椀on,
including ecological, landscape,
hydrogeological and tra昀케c
assessments.

TOBIN were responsible for managing
post planning compliance works for 9
Irish solar projects namely Ballyragget
Phases 1 & 2, Bagenalstown,
Ballynilard, Portarlington, Glenamaddy,
Monread North, Kilmacthomas
and Talbots Inch. We also secured
exempted development cer琀椀昀椀cates
(Sec琀椀on 5 Declara琀椀ons) for the grid
connec琀椀ons for many of the solar
farms listed above.
