Oweninny Wind Farm

TOBIN was appointed to carry out EIAR for the
Oweninny Wind Farm in Co. Mayo. The development
is classed as Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID).
TOBIN managed the itera琀椀ve design development
process in partnership with Bord na Móna Powergen
and our various internal and external contributors,
resul琀椀ng in a 昀椀nal design that comprised of 18 wind
turbines with an overall blade 琀椀p height of 200m, a
rotor diameter of 158m, and a hub height of 121m. The
development also includes the decommissioning and
removal of 21 exis琀椀ng Bellacorick wind turbines.
TOBIN completed the hydrological and hydrogeological
assessment for the development. A hydrogeological
assessment of iron 昀氀ushes and other Groundwater
Dependant Terrestrial Ecosystems (GWDTE) was
undertaken for the development. As part of the
hydrological assessment, a Flood Risk Assessment was
undertaken for the proposed 110kV substa琀椀on.
